When Medeha and I were living together in Harlem, almost two years went by before we bothered getting furniture for our living room. Instead, we had a bare mattress, a broken futon frame, a plywood 'table' and a paper mache chair we'd found on the street. Our decorating included Halloween cobwebs EVERYWHERE, a fog machine, and chart paper with inappropriate things written on them taped to the walls.

Ooooh! Spooky! |
It didn't matter that we couldn't open our kitchen cabinets or use any of the appliances. This is what we ate for dinner!

Snack Night! |
I miss our New York apartment.
Now, I have an apartment in Korea. It's very different from the one we had in New York. I went out and bought some home decorations today. Couldn't find any cobwebs or dinosaur posters, so I decided to go with an 'it's Springtime, All the Time' theme!

I guess it's official now? I live in Korea?
1) A rueful head shake here as I remember that your undergrad degree was in Nutrition. Would love an analysis of the nutritional value of the diet coke/popcorn/skittles/gummy worms diet. 2) Absolutely love the decorations! Frogs, and a couple pics of you mom on the wall...love it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE THEME!!! Monday night snack night was fun, though not all could handle it. Remember when Tara threw up from the horrible stomach ache she had from eating all that junk food we called "dinner"? That chair was extremely dangerous, especially when we'd go for rides on it at 4 am after the bar. As much as I love having furniture, those were some great times!
ReplyDeleteSnack night made me so sick! However, I did love the mattress in the kitchen. Before I moved down the block from you, it often served as my bed.
